Why This Reference Exists
Printed Valparaiso directories faded away, but the records behind them remained. Ownership records are kept by the Porter County Assessor and Recorder. Voter information follows Indiana law. Historical volumes belong to the library and state collections. Finding a current record or tracing a past household can therefore require several offices and portals. We assembled the search routes, office contacts, coverage dates, and access limits in one Valparaiso reference.
What Is Included
- Pages by angle: the street directory (address-keyed records), the city directory (the historical shelf), and the resident lookup (one-person searches)
- The rolls and offices: Porter County Assessor, Recorder, elections office, Clerk, vital records, and the PCPLS Genealogy Center
- Walkthroughs: how to trace who lives on a street, how to read a directory entry, how to follow a household across the decades
- Access rules: what Indiana law opens, what stays closed, and how APRA requests work when a record is not online
Limits on Our Role
This is a privately run reference site with no connection to a Valparaiso office, Porter County department, Indiana agency, court, or library. Several limits follow:
- We cannot confirm whether a specific person currently lives in Valparaiso
- We cannot pull, certify, or change any record on your behalf
- We cannot add anyone to, or remove anyone from, any roll or database
- We cannot give legal advice about a record or a dispute
- We cannot promise that every coverage year, link, or office detail here is current at this moment
Only the custodian office can confirm, certify, or correct a record. Nothing found through this site may be used for credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions.
